Meet Fortytwo's Newest Employee: Silje Føyen

Fortytwo is on a roll. Silje Føyen has been with us behind the scenes for some time, and now it's official: she has become a permanent part of our team as our new marketing muscle.

Why Fortytwo?

When asked, Silje’s answer is clear: “My plan was to run my own company Storygap, from here to forever. But once I got to know the people and the culture of Fortytwo, something just clicked, and saying yes to a permanent position, was easy. In Fortytwo I get to use the full specter of my expertise; from nerding and deep diving into tech and writing about it, to working out strategies and plans for our overall marketing.”

What Silje brings to the table

At heart, Silje is a true nerd who loves going down rabbit holes, especially the ones that have tech, SaaS and AI in them.  She also has a great interest in innovation and innovation processes, and a deep understanding of how LLM’s work on a technical level, although she is no programmer.

Where she has been

Silje has education within things as far apart as acupuncture, medicine and copywriting/marketing, which goes to underscore the curiosity that fuels her journey.

Coming from a position of copywriter for the tech-and Saas- industry, she moved on to a position of VP Growth/ Marketing, leading a marketing team of ten including project leaders, graphic design, copywriters and paid ads experts, and lastly holding the position of COO in Amesto Growth/Spring Agency.

Through all this, Silje gained solid experience with change processes, leading marketing teams, and executing strategies throughoperationalization.

She started her own company Storygap in September 2024, working as a marketing consultant, also ghost-writing Yngvar Ugland's book “Moonshots-metoden: Magisk medisin mot myopi” about moonshots innovation in DNB. She will continue on her journey of ghostwriting books as a spare-time project while working at Fortytwo.

What sets her apart

Writing is the handicraft at the core of what Silje does, and translating tech to human language is one of her super-powers. She thrives when everything is moving at a high speed, and change is the status quo. Making people work together and erasing silo-thinking is at the core of how she thinks. Structuring processes, automating things and building messaging based on data, not opinions, drives her, and the customer is at the centerof everything she does.

One buzzword she’d erase

The word AI as a synonym for generative AI/LLM’s. When AI as a term is used for LLM’s, it creates confusion, and to Silje it communicates a lack of understanding of the broader picture, as generative AI in truth is a subset of a subset of AI.
